Poshmark’s 2026 update changed the default feed layout from Square (1:1) to Portrait (3:4). If you upload a square photo, the app now fits it into that taller frame by effectively framing the center of your image. This often cuts off the top and bottom of your item (decapitating heads or hiding shoe toes).

3 Rules for Sharp Poshmark Photos
Poshmark aggressively compresses images, which can make text labels look blurry if your files are already low quality. Follow these export rules to reduce the “double compression” effect:
1. Avoid tiny files
For best results, use photos around 1200 px or larger on the shortest side. Very small images are more likely to look pixelated after upload.
2. Use “smart” JPEG quality
Export at 80–85% JPEG quality. This keeps file size low enough for fast uploads but high enough to survive Poshmark’s compression algorithm.
3. Portrait is priority
Since the 2026 update, portrait photos take up significantly more screen space in the feed than square photos, giving you a visual advantage over competitors still using old square listing covers.
